Vue Eastleigh is hosting a truly spectacular night to celebrate the eagerly awaited Downton Abbey film, released September 13. The evening will feature a string quartet performing glorious melodies as customers arrive as well as themed costumes. It is sure to get you in the mood to step into the elegant world of Downton Abbey.

Since the debut series in 2010, the aristocratic Crawley family and their team of loyal servants have gained a place in people’s hearts across the world. When it was announced in 2018 that the popular series was returning to the big screen for a feature-length special, fans everywhere rejoiced.

The film focuses on the important royal visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1927, who call on the Yorkshire Estate we’ve come to know and love. Since we first met Lord and Lady Grantham, much has changed as the once gargantuan family funds have now diminished. This means there are less servants to run the humming household, requiring Carson, the trusty butler, to come out of retirement in attempt to revitalise the grandeur of Downton Abbey. Written by creator Julian Fellowes and directed by Michael Engler, who developed four of the show’s episodes, it has all the ingredients to be a great success.

Adam Palmer, General Manager at Vue Eastleigh, said, “We thought there was no better way to do the Downton Abbey film justice than hosting our own extravaganza before the screening. The atmosphere is sure to be buzzing as fans have been patiently waiting for the hit TV series to return to their screens. We look forward to greeting fans of the film and maybe seeing some in period costume themselves.”
