Save The Date – MELA 24th July 2022

The Asian Welfare and Cultural Association (AWCA) are delighted to announce that in 2022 the Mela Festival will take place on Sunday 24th July.

This FREE fantastic family day out with a cultural twist is a firm fixture in Eastleigh’s calendar. Expect an extravaganza of dancing, colours & music, children’s activities, demonstrations, stalls, food from around the world and much, much more.

It’s on Sunday 24th July at Leigh Road Recreation Ground in Eastleigh next to the Point (SO50 9DE) from 11am to 6pm TBC – The opening ceremony will be at 12 noon TBC

Highlights include a Climbing Wall, Circus skills, Street Food stalls and Cookery Demos.

The main stage will feature a constant programme of live music and dance by both local and national performers.

There will be plenty going on with –

Health Zone – to give basic health checks and information and a variety of interactive activities for all ages.
Food Zone – as usual the aroma of mouth-watering food from across the world will welcome everyone.
Information Zone – Local Community Projects and local services such as Fire, Police and Eastleigh Borough Council.
Family Zone – everyone can be certain to find something that their children will enjoy eg. climbing wall, creative crafts, kite making, face painting, Taekwondo, Indian martial arts, Chinese Lion dancers and much more.
Atiya and Caroline, Co-Chairs of the AWCA said “The Eastleigh Mela has thrived because we believe that people want to come together to enjoy food, music and share the sunshine and, by so doing, they are celebrating the real meaning of cultural fusion”

Head down to the Recreation Ground in Eastleigh next to The Point (SO50 9DE) on Sunday 24th July.  Start 11am, opening by a special guest at 12 noon, ends at 6pm. TBC
