Essential to achieving this is ensuring we have a comprehensive People Strategy and an effective HR team in place that fully supports the Council and all our employees to be the very best we can. Due to promotion, we are now looking for a new Head of HR to lead this work and champion our continued success.
About the Role
In this pivotal role, working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure that people management practices, strategies and initiatives support the delivery of the Council’s objectives and aspirations, as well as ensuring compliance and good practice. This is our most senior HR role so together with your team, you will be responsible for all HR functions including recruitment and resourcing, payroll and renumeration policies, employee engagement, learning and development, policies and procedures, workforce planning and HR data, wellbeing, employee relations, employee performance management as well as being a champion for transformational change and diversity and inclusion.

You will be supported by a fantastic, committed and very competent team for whom you will set the work programme and objectives ensuring effective performance management and personal development.

Your strong knowledge of HR legislation and policies together with your keen eye for detail, problem solving abilities and your proven ability to build effective working relationships will ensure you will quickly gain creditability and buy-in from your colleagues.
