This Girl Can Eastleigh is a local campaign that celebrates active women and aims to increase female participation in sport and physical activity in the borough. 25% of adults in Eastleigh are inactive and women in Eastleigh are more likely to be inactive in comparison to the rest of the county.

What is This Girl Can Eastleigh?

This Girl Can Eastleigh is a celebration of active women doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how much their bodies jiggle in the process. Our project is inspired by the national This Girl Can campaign, developed by Sport England, and proudly shouts that whatever your shape, ability or experience – sport and exercise can be a fun and an enjoyable part of every woman’s life.

This feel-good campaign video features ordinary women taking part in Eastleigh-based classes, courses, clubs and who individually exercise in the borough.

As part of this campaign, we aim to break down current barriers every day women face in taking part in regular exercise and inspire them to take that first step.

This Girl Can Eastleigh aims to address common barriers women face in relation to physical activity. Local champions will be the face of our campaign, sharing their own individual stories aiming to inspire others and convey an ‘If I can, then you can’ message.

·         To encourage women (aged 16+) who do little to no exercise, to take part in physical activity.

·         To build women’s confidence and show that women from all backgrounds take part in, and enjoy, physical activity.

·         Create an ‘If I can, then you can’ message through our local champions who are the face of the campaign.

·         To raise awareness of local clubs and activities.
