No time for the January blues for our Town Rangers, they have been busy, busy, busy!
There have been 78 calls put through to the Rangers in the month of January and whilst this is lower than usual, they have not stopped in their quest to clean up the town of litter and shoplifters!
Not only have they been busy, removing rubbish, they have also assisted shops with retrieving and returning stolen goods to them.
The Rangers noticed a lot of rubbish on Hanns Way when they were out and about and quickly got to work cleaning it up.
We also received a call from Leaders to say that they had noticed a lot of rubbish at the back of their building, once again the Rangers grabbed the litter pickers and got to work.
As well as keeping the Town Centre clean, The Rangers have also been assisting shops in the fight against crime. The Rangers were alerted to shoplifters in the Town Centre, they liaised with CCTV regarding the whereabouts of the culprits. Once the culprits realised that they were being followed they dropped the stolen goods which were retrieved and returned to Savers and Superdrug.
On another occasion, the Rangers stopped a suspected shoplifter who handed over the goods they had stolen which equated to over £400 across Trespass, Superdrug, Iceland and Savers. Once again the goods were returned to the businesses.
The Rangers, together with the Visit Eastleigh Crime Reduction CoOrdinator (Rich) have been working hard with the businesses and the police over the last year to reduce business crime in the Town Centre and resulting in Anti-Social Behaviour being down and less calls coming through to the Rangers regarding crime. The results that have been achieved have not gone unnoticed and have resulted in nominations for the Visit Eastleigh Team and Rich as an individual at the Police and Crime Commissioner Awards 2024.
Who knows what February has instore for our heroes in red but they as always will continue to make Eastleigh a safe and clean place to work and visit.
