Eastleigh is preparing for the annual Hendy Eastleigh 10K road running race that is being held on Sunday 24th March. This is an extremely popular event not only in the road running calendar but for residents and visitors to Eastleigh.
Over 2600 runners are set to take part in the 39th Hendy Eastleigh 10K road race on Sunday 24th March at 9am.
Sponsored by Hendy, runners will pour into the borough from throughout the UK and abroad to compete for over £3000 worth of prizes in the event that will be held around the streets of Eastleigh. This year’s race is supporting the Mayor of Eastleigh’s Charity Appeal, and Wessex Heartbeat and Hampshire & IoW Air Ambulance
There may be some disruption to traffic, with Passfield Avenue being closed between 8.30am and 10.30am. There will also be a road closure as the runners’ lead car go along the route which is Passfield Avenue, Woodside Avenue, Shakespeare Road, Twyford Road, Woodside Avenue, back along Passfield Avenue, Derby Road, Desborough Road, Chestnut Avenue and Passfield Avenue, before finishing in Fleming Park.
Race Organiser, Steve Collins says, “It’s great that the people of Eastleigh really support the Hendy Eastleigh 10k as it provides such a great day for the town. The event has been as popular as ever.”
He added “With fantastic support from Hendy the event is now one of the biggest and best 10K’s in the UK with many top class runners from throughout the country setting off alongside hundreds of fun runners, many of whom will be raising money for charity.”
The event is supported by Gophysio, Up & Running and Eastleigh Borough Council.
